I’m Luisa. I’m a portrait photographer and crafter based in Charlotte, NC.
I work mostly in my home studio, where I create quiet, timeless portraits—often of children, and sometimes of myself. My style is simple and classic, with a soft touch. That’s just how I see the world, and I love when that feeling comes through in my images.
I started taking photos back in 2019 with self-portraits—just playing with light, camera settings, and whatever I had around. It was a creative escape at first, but slowly, it turned into something much deeper. Self-portraits taught me about light, mood, and connection. They helped me understand the kind of atmosphere I love to create—soft, calm, and a little nostalgic.
I also love making things with my hands—little props, textures, backdrops. A lot of what you see in my images has been crafted or styled by me. It’s how I bring more of myself into each photo.
My work today—whether it’s self-portraits or studio sessions—still follows the same minimalist style that has shaped my work from the very start.
A few things I’m grateful for:
- Awarded Sony Alpha Female Plus Grant for my Transformative Self-Portrait project.
- Finalist in the Microsoft Surface Original by Design Contest, recognized for innovation and creativity in visual storytelling.
- Earned a certification in lighting and posing under Sandra Coan, a leading expert in the photography industry.
